The Double Twist and Yeda Research & Development Company - the commercial arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science - have announced an agreement whereby DoubleTwist will commercialize the Weizmann Institute's GeneCards database. So reports EDI's "Fortnightly" Report. The GeneCards database provides human gene data and relevant links to other databases. Under the agreement, DoubleTwist will have the exclusive rights to license the GeneCards product to commercial entities, and also will integrate GeneCards into its online product, The deal also stipulates that DoubleTwist will fund further development of GeneCards at the Weizmann Institute. GeneCards is a searchable database that offers access to concise summaries of more than 20,000 genes and their disease associations. The Weizmann Institute of Science is a major center of scientific research and graduate study located in Rehovot, Israel. Its 2,500 scientists, students and support staff are engaged in more than 1,000 research projects across the spectrum of contemporary science.
