The Foreign Ministers of the Organization of African Unity "denounced Israel's perpetrated acts of aggression, oppression and destruction being carried out against the unarmed Palestinian people and their valiant uprising." So reports Syria's official Tishrin this week. In a statement made following the 73rd session of the OAU foreign ministers conference held in Tripoli, those in attendance "called upon Israel to immediately stop those sinister acts and abide by principles of the international legitimacy, namely UN resolutions 193, 242, and 338." According to Tishrin, the statement "urged the UN to take measures capable of protecting the Palestinians and lifting the blockade imposed upon them, stressing their rights to self-determination, freedom and independence. The OAU statement commended the steadfastness of the Palestinians and their heroic uprising."

Arutz Sheva's Ron Meir notes that the Palestinians "are far from unarmed. PLO terrorists execute daily armed terrorist attacks on both Israeli civilians and soldiers throughout the country, but especially in Judea, Samaria and Gaza."
