The first seminar for Jewish Secondary School Teachers from Argentina was held at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem recently, organized by the University's International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization, the Institute of Jewish Studies and the Melton Center for Jewish Education. The teachers, mostly from Argentina but also including teachers from Uruguay, participated in an in-service training program in Hebrew language, Bible and the cultural interchange between the Jewish people and other civilizations. The program was made possible by Leon Kovalivker of the Argentinean Friends of the Hebrew University. In another program conducted by the International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization and Yad Vashem's International School of Holocaust Studies, some 17 professors from Latin America participated in the second workshop on academic teaching of Holocaust issues.
