Tuvia Victor of Beit El, on the last leg of his 420-kilometer bicycle ride from Jerusalem to Eilat, spoke to Arutz-7 today from the road. "It's great!" he said. "We are about 100 cyclers riding on behalf of Alyn Children's Hospital in Jerusalem, and we have gotten to see some beautiful scenes on the roads of Israel. Today's sunrise over Yotvata was particularly beautiful." The group began its trek on Sunday, traveled through Beit Guvrin, towards Gaza, east to Mitzpeh Ramon, and then to Eilat. Victor said that one of their number suffered a difficult injury when he fell and broke his collarbone, "but the rest of us are holding up quite well. Twenty people came especially from abroad to take part... We do about 100 kms a day."
Holding his cellular phone with one hand and the handlebars with the other, Victor alternately talked and breathed as he cycled up the Aravah highway: "It rained last night, but we had already finished for the day. Yesterday we had lunch at the Shikmah army base, where they were very supportive... In general people have cheered us on." He said that each rider pays $300 and is expected to raise at least another $2000 for the hospital, which deals with children with very serious injuries either from birth, accidents, or terrorism. "We should arrive in Eilat around noon, rest up, and we'll fly back tomorrow morning," Victor said. The group includes four teenage riders, as well as 13 over 50 years old - and one who is 67.
