Though National Union-Yisrael Beiteinu co-leader MK Avigdor Lieberman yesterday told Arutz-7 that he would not join a narrow right-wing/religious government, the party's other co-leader MK Benny Elon today intimated the opposite. In answer to a question, Elon told Arutz-7 that Lieberman "was probably merely expressing his own opinion yesterday… The matter has not yet been discussed amongst the party leadership. I will wait for this discussion where I can hear all the sides, but the discussion will have to concentrate on this question: Can Sharon form a narrow government that can last for a year until the regularly-scheduled elections, during which time the right-wing will be able to do good things - or will it be a government that will last only a month or two, in which case there is no point to it…"
Elon said that, in any event, "there is no point at all in discussing this before Labor actually leaves the government. We are all busy people, and I have seen too much not to realize that anything can happen. Even though the situation appears to be headed in a certain direction, the opposite could very well happen."
