Sitting shiva is always painful. For the Shor family of Jerusalem, however, the discomfort is on another level:

Last week, a horrific fire ripped through their home, killing their 12-year old son, Eliyahu. Eliyahu’s parents watched on in horror, as firefighters yelled for the boy to jump from his window. He was too afraid to jump, and tragically passed away. They were rushed to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. What came next, however, was a shock that had not even occurred to them while they were processing the death of their son: They had nowhere to sit shiva.

The Shor home still sits in ashes. Belongings burned to dust, appliances ruined, furniture destroyed, and the burned room of their little boy tragically empty.

Right now, the Shors are wearing clothing borrowed from family members, sleeping on couches and guest rooms, without a single belonging to their name.

Money is being raised to help the Shors replace their belongings and move back into their home, where they can process this tragedy in peace and safety.
