All lovers of Israel owe Benjamin Netanyahu a huge debt of gratitude for his lifetime of service in defending our Land, State, and Nation. Yesterday, I read the disappointing details of the current government's refusal to cover security costs for Netanyahu's family.
After all Netanyahu has done for Israel and the Jewish People, I find it shameful that Israel's ruling cabal can give 450 million shekels to the Jew-hating Mansour Abbas, his political party, and his terrorist friends who openly and violently agitate for Israel's destruction, but deny Israel's greatest statesman reasonable funds to protect his family.
Israel has had excellent Prime Ministers in the past, notably David Ben Gurion and Menachem Begin, and each had their strengths. Netanyahu is, in my opinion, greater than any previous Prime Minister. He befriended Russia, China, and India. He expanded Israel's diplomatic reach to most of the world. He stood strong against the anti-Semitic ministrations, pressures, and pro-Islamic terrorist activities of the Obama Administration. In short, unless a government was virulently anti-Israel, Netanyahu was able to upgrade relations with them and use them to further Israel's economy and security. That is world-class statesmanship.
World-class statesmen are exceedingly rare, and some countries have never been blessed to have one. Israel has theirs in Benjamin Netanyahu. How the current government refuses to provide his family's protection reveals their smallness, selfishness, hunger for power, and lack of loyalty and vision. Nothing good for Israel can come from people with these lowly character traits.
Netanyahu transformed Israel into a superstar on the world stage while governing Israel domestically with centrist policies. I didn't always agree with the details of his policy choices, but I understood exactly what he was doing. And as someone who loves Israel deeply, and is in the process of making Aliyah with his family, his leadership was kosher for me.
Therefore, I would be honored to contribute to any ongoing security costs for Mr. Netanyahu and his family. It is the least I can do to say a sincere "thank you" for the amazing things he did and hopefully will do again for Israel. Additionally, people must speak up about this governmental pettiness so that Israel's current leaders feel shame and choose to do the right thing.
I don't know how to set up a security fund, and I don't have an address to send the money to, so someone else must act on this as well. Perhaps a charity organization with a good name could set up a portal for Israel lovers to contribute to protect the family of the man who has done so much for Israel. Mr. Netanyahu is a Jewish national treasure, and he and his family deserve our protection.
