When 200 pro-PLO activists convened for the second day of an Israel divestment conference at the University of Michigan yesterday, they were greeted by double that amount of Israel supporters who arrived from across the country. Carrying Israeli flags and singing Hebrew songs the group marched on campus to show their solidarity with the Jewish state.
University of Michigan graduate and Detroit Attorney Debbie Schlussel, who was the keynote speaker at the rally, told Arutz Sheva that some of the speakers at the PLO conference delivered hate-filled incitement-laced speeches against Israel and Jews, which is not welcome on campus. She said that that type of rhetoric has contributed to violence against Jews in universities across North America and against Jews throughout Israel.
According to Schlussel one of the speakers at the PLO-conference was U of M student Fadi Kiblawi who published an article in a student newspaper last year calling on Arabs to strap on bombs and blow up Jewish students. Schlussel added that university authority’s had knowledge of Kiblawi’s article but nevertheless allowed him to speak. The PLO conference concludes today.
