Foreign Minister Shimon Peres has introduced to Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer a new form of the latter’s “Gaza and Bethlehem First” plan. Peres’ “Judea First” plan calls for the transferring of security control in the Judean region to the Palestinian Authority, starting with the ancient Jewish town of Hevron.

However, top IDF officials are warning against a pullback from so-called “quiet” areas. They say that terrorists take advantage of such pullbacks and flood into those regions to set up their operations. The Professors For A Strong Israel organization is calling on the Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to scrap the “Judea First” plan.
