Modiin resident Oded Volk, 51, who was critically wounded in Tuesday’s drive-by shooting attack near Hevron, passed away in a Jerusalem hospital last night. Survived by three children between the ages of 17 and 27, Volk was laid to rest this afternoon in the Hod HaSharon cemetery. He was a tour guide with the Jewish National Fund for 20 years, and was said to have had "an encyclopedic knowledge of the land." After his family decided to donate his organs for transplants, his liver was placed in the body of a 52-year-old Arab man from Um el-Fahm.
Oded was shot on Tuesday after he hitched a ride in the car of Eliezer Halfon, a local contractor. Halfon was wounded - now listed as "critical and stable" - but continued driving for some 250 meters after the terrorists opened fire. Two young women - Ora Zinni, 21, and Efrat Blau, 20 - who also hitched a ride with Halfon, remain hospitalized.
