Naftali Bennett opened the cabinet meeting this morning, Sunday, with reference to the terrorists' escape from Gilboa Prison, and promised to correct the failures that were discovered.
The Prime Minister said that "The amount and energy and efforts invested to correct a sequence of mistakes and failures that simply should not have happened is enormous. It requires examination and lessons learned.
"Together with the Minister of Internal Security, we decided to establish an investigation committee for the escape incident. There will be a comprehensive and serious examination.
"We are taking a broader look and see what happened as a wake-up call. Some of the state's systems have degenerated in recent years and have to go through processes of optimization, repair and striving for excellence."
According to Bennett, "It is possible and necessary to work differently, especially in a security organization such as the Israel Prison Service. Quality appointments in accordance with professional parameters only, setting national goals, and formulating orderly work plans. What has broken down can be repaired."
On the Iranian nuclear program, the prime minister said that “last week the Atomic Energy Agency released reports that have given an official stamp to what we have been claiming for a long time. I call on the superpowers not to fall for the Iranians' illusions - they are at their most advanced point ever."
Regarding COVID-19 data in recent days, Bennett said, "Many were skeptical, but in the test of outcomes our strategy is proving itself."
