Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz stated this morning, Sunday, in an interview with Galei Tzahal that he does not intend to give up on the issue of vaccinating students in educational institutions.
"There will definitely be vaccinations in schools. We are working with the Ministry of Education to do it in the best way and in the coming days we will reach conclusions. I want to vaccinate the youth with parental approval, and we will do it in educational institutions," Horowitz said in an interview with Galei Tzahal.
In an interview here with Kan Bet, Horowitz referred to the desire to open the school year on time. "We see the importance of opening the school year on time to get teachers and students into an education routine. There is another reason - we want to start with the serological testing model and the special outline in the classrooms and see how it works."
He said every effort is being made to prevent another lockdown. "We have said several times that a lockdown is the last resort, this is our approach even now. The previous government tried all the restrictions, three lockdowns and spent 200 billion shekels - a crazy amount. We add the restrictions and hope that these measures will help us prevent lockdown."
The minister also spoke about the state of the health care system and said, "The nurses will finish their studies in mid-September, we will advance their entry into the hospitals. 1,500 nurses will go to work within a few days. 300 doctors, who will not be on temporary standards, will also be added."
