Much like everyone else, celebrities have hobbies that they like to enjoy when they aren’t on stage or on a movie set, and when you are a celebrity, there aren’t many things you can’t afford to take part in.

Everything from skydiving to bug collecting, with poker being a favorite as well, celebrities also let their hair down and just enjoy whatever hobby they have. Here are some celebrities and their favorite pastime.

Matt Damon

Speaking of poker, Matt Damon is a massive fan of the game and plays any chance he can. Having had to learn the game for his movie Rounders back in 1998, he never stopped playing, and can be seen at tables all over Las Vegas as well as in a tournament or two when he has the time.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is somewhat of an enigma and has her quirks, when of them being her penchant for daggers. She has stated that her obsession with blades started when she was 11, and she has passed it down to her son Maddox, who has a growing collection of daggers now.

Richard Branson

What do billionaires do in their free time? Well, Richard Branson spends his time on the water kitesurfing. He learnt about it around the time of buying his private island, Necker Island, back in 2000, and even the Obama’s gave it a go when they visited.

Rod Stewart

A music legend, Rod Stewart is completely obsessed with model trains, going so far as to travel with them and book a second hotel room just for his set up. He has also had a documentary about the 100-foot long, to-scale model of Grand Central Station that he built.

The comedy actress is known for her very funny roles as well as her incredible laugh, but her hobby is one she learnt back when she was a child, unicycling. She stills does it wherever and whenever she can, and can apparently pull off a few tricks.

Susan Sarandon

A Hollywood legend, Susan Sarandon is table tennis obsessed and even went so far as to open up a table tennis bar in New York in 2009. The bar was so successful that it is now a franchise, and regularly hosts table tennis tournaments, league play, and casual play.

Tom Hanks

Another celebrity who enjoys collecting is much beloved actor, Tom Hanks. He got his first typewriter when he was 19, and now has upwards of 250 in his collection, ocking one up almost anywhere he goes.

Nicole Kidman

A bit of surprise, but Nicole Kidman is an adrenaline junkie. When she isn’t working on a movie, you can find her thousands of feet up skydiving. She also has her skydiving license, making her an ace in the air.

Ryan Gosling

Another surprise is Ryan Gosling who, on the set of Lars and the Real Girl, learnt to knit, and hasn’t given up on the hobby. He has spoken about how he has knitted gifts for friends and family, even though in his words they’re “oddly shaped and off-putting”

Quentin Tarantino

The King of movie violence, Quentin Tarantino is a fan of boardgames. Not only does he love playing them, he has also shown off his impressive collection of board games based on TV shows and movies many times.

David Arquette

The Scream actor is another one with an unusual hobby. He is a massive fan of professional wrestling and has taken part in matches many times, but his real love is crocheting. He learnt to crochet from his grandmother, and has never stopped.

Will Smith

Will Smith likes to spend his time on the mat, and no, not wrestling or taking part in MMA, but fencing. He also gets his celebrity friends involved, namely Tom Cruise and David Beckham, with both men joining Smith regularly for some fencing fun.

Mike Tyson

Iron Mike Tyson has long been a fan of pigeon racing. The former boxing goliath has spoken many times on his love for the birds, he attends a pigeon pageant in Canada every year, and is apparently very dedicated to training and looking after his birds.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is another actor with a strange collection, he has a number of Barbie dolls. He stated that he would use the dolls to practice voices and characters when playing with his daughter, she has since grown out of it, but he still has a very large collection of dolls apparently.

Fernando Alonso

The Formula 1 legend is a massive fan of magic, entertaining his team and fellow races with regular displays of trickery and misdirection. Former driver Nigel Mansell is also a fully fledged member of the Magic Circle.

Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel is apparently a huge Dungeons and Dragons fan. The Fast and the Furious actor was asked to write the forward for a book celebrating the games 30th anniversary, and he also taught actress Judie Dench how to play the game while they filmed the Chronicles of Riddick.
