This evening the Jerusalem Municipality will be holding the public sale of the 80 lion statues that have been on display in various city streets and squares in the capital over the past year. The event will take place outside City Hall in Safra Square. Bids for the colorful and creative statues begin at $999. Child welfare organizations will receive 70% of the proceeds, while the remainder of the money will go to the artists who created the lions. Jerusalem's municipal symbol is a lion, reminiscent of the Lion of Judah in whose Biblical inheritance the city is located.
