(Updated Monday 1PM) This evening the Jerusalem Municipality will be holding the public sale of the 80 lion statues that have been on display in the capital over the past year. The event will take place outside City Hall in Safra Square. Bids for the colorful and creative statues begin at $999. 70% of the proceeds will go to child welfare organizations while the remainder of the money will go to the artists who created the lions. The city had placed the lions throughout the city as a symbol of strength during these trying times.
