Family members of the three soldiers who were abducted by Hizbullah two years ago - Sgt. Adi Avitan, St.-Sgt. Binyamin Avraham and St.-Sgt. Omer Suaedwill depart tomorrow for Washington. They will participate in a Congressional hearing regarding measures to be taken against Lebanon and Hizbullah. The three soldiers were declared dead by the IDF Chief Rabbinate about a year after their abduction, but their bodies have still not been returned to Israel. Yaakov Avitan, father of Adi, told Arutz-7 today that though he sat shiva (the ritual mourning period) for his son, he still hopes to see him alive: “We are believing people, and we followed the instructions of the Rabbinate, which based its rulings on the army’s findings. But at the same time we still harbor the hope that he may still be alive.” He said that if the U.S. Congress decides to institute sanctions against Lebanon and military action against Hizbullah, “this will certainly give a push to the efforts to bring our boys home.”
