(Updated Sunday 10 AM) Despite the fact that the country is on a high alert for terror attacks today, Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer has issued permits allowing an additional 10,000 Palestinian laborers and 3,000 businesspersons entry into pre-1967 Israel. The total number of Arabs living under PLO rule permitted into pre-1967 Israel now stands at 33,000. The move is part of Israel’s plan to ease restrictions on Arabs living under Arafat’s rule.

There were several instances of Arab aggression over the holiday weekend. At least five mortar shells landed harmlessly in Gush Katif communities on Israel’s southern Mediterranean Coastal region… A student of Jerusalem’s Beit Orot Yeshiva (religious institution) suffered light head wounds, when Arabs threw rocks at him in the Abu Tor neighborhood of the capital… An anti-tank grenade was fired at an IDF position near the N'vei Dekalim Industrial Park in southern Gaza without causing injury.
