(Updated Thursday 11 AM) US National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice says that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is providing a safe haven for members of Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda terror network. Rice also says that Iraq is providing high-ranking Al-Qaeda members with training in chemical weapons development. She made her comments on a PBS-television news program yesterday evening.
At the same time NBC news is reporting that al-Qaeda members are hiding in the Muslim nation of Iran. US officials say that the group may be conducting training maneuvers in the eastern part of the county, just over the Afghan border.
