In remarks earlier today at a Victory Day ceremony led by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, marking the Allied victory over Nazi Germany, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said: “It is our duty to make sure that our war heroes can live out their lives in dignity, and it is incumbent upon us to ensure that future generations are familiar with their legacy of heroism, with their struggle and pride, and with the victory of light over darkness.”

Gantz Added: “Just as we bear the responsibility for the continuity of the Jewish people…it is our duty to ensure the rights and safety of all of Israel’s citizens: Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Circassians, as well as freedom of religion for people of every ethnicity at holy sites. Let me state clearly: The State of Israel will always protect freedom of worship at holy sites, and will respond to any extremism and to any attempt to harm us out of internal or external political motivations.”
