Israel\'s three main gas companies - Paz, Delek, and Sonol - have backed down, and will cancel their new one-shekel daytime service fee on all fill-ups. Investigators of the Business Limitations Authority raided the companies\' offices yesterday, confiscating papers relating to the sudden and simultaneous imposition of the fee. Until last month, all gas stations added a nightly service charge of approximately one shekel, but on April 1, a daily fee of 1-1.2 shekels was introduced, while the nightly fee was raised to 2 shekels. The companies said they were forced into the move because of continuing profits erosion and because of the raise in the minimum wage. The company heads met today with National Infrastructures Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and afterwards announced that the charge was henceforth null and void. In addition, the price of 96-octane gas was increased, and the price of 95-octane was lowered, and will now both cost 4.26 shekels per liter.
