The Knesset Members of the National Union-Yisrael Beiteinu party visited Hevron today. MK Uri Ariel told Arutz-7 about that visit as well: "A military officer briefed us, leaving it quite clear that without the IDF inside Hevron, there cannot be total security for the Jewish residents of Hevron and of Israel. Just this past night we heard of a few more arrests of terrorists..." Defense Minister Ben-Eliezer announced a couple of weeks ago that he was planning to withdraw the Israeli forces from Hevron after the holidays, i.e., in about two weeks' time.

MK Ariel noted one of the problems faced by the Jewish community in Hevron: "There is a very severe shortage of land for Jews in Hevron, and there is a long waiting list of dozens of families that want to live there. My suggestion is that state lands there must be freed up, those that do not have to expropriated from Arabs. Prime Minister Sharon's intervention is needed in this regard and for areas such as the Chizkiyahu Quarter, in order to help these many families move in immediately."
