Possibly due to the military closures enforced throughout PLO-controlled areas yesterday, the war front was relatively calm over the Yom Kippur holiday. However, several incidents of Arab violence were reported. Worshippers heading home from services in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood were attacked by Arabs throwing rocks. One youth sustained light wounds. The Arabs fled to a nearby village. Arabs also threw rocks at Israelis making their way towards the Kotel (Western Wall) near the Damascus Gate entrance to the Old City. No injuries were reported.
Troops shot and killed an Arab at the Gush Katif junction. The man had thrown a grenade at their position. In addition troops backed by helicopters entered town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza and demolished two homes belonging to terrorists’ families.
