(Updated Tuesday 10:45 AM) Due to the military closures enforced throughout PLO-controlled areas, the war front was relatively calm over the Yom Kippur holiday. However, there were several incidents of Arab violence reported. Worshippers heading home from services in Jerusalem’s Gilo neighborhood were attacked by Arabs throwing rocks. One youth sustained light wounds. The Arabs fled to a nearby village. Arabs also threw rocks at Israelis making their way towards the Kotel (Western Wall) near the Damascus Gate entrance to the Old City. No injuries were reported.
In Gaza last night IDF forces arrested over 20 Arabs wanted for terrorist activities in the town of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Five of those taken into custody had ties to the Hamas terror organization. Soldiers also located and destroyed several weapon production factories in the Khan Yunis area.
Troops shot and killed an Arab at the Gush Katif junction. The man had thrown a grenade at their position. In addition troops backed by helicopters entered town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza and demolished two homes belonging to terrorists’ families.
