Thousands of sets of hadassim were stolen on Wednesday night from Kokhav HaShachar. Hadassim are myrtle branches held together with the lulav and etrog [palm branch and citron; Lev. 23, 40] on the holiday of Sukkot, which begins eight days from today. The Chief Rabbinate has announced that the hadassim have a kosher certification from Rabbi Shlomo Riskin or Rabbi Yonatan Elran. Whoever wishes to ensure that his or her hadassim are not stolen, says the Rabbinate, is invited to call the grower - Efraim Tzipilevitz in Kokhav HaShachar - to receive a list of suppliers who acquired their hadassim legitimately.
