Army forces dismantled a civilian-monitored security outpost near the Shomron community of Har Bracha last night. Two persons manning the position were arrested. In addition, a caravan (mobile home without wheels) was removed. The Yesha (Judea, Samaria, and Gaza) council released a statement opposing the Defense Ministry's decision to take the outpost down. "This action was in violation of a promise made by the Government to the Yesha Council that the matter of the outposts would be decided by the Cabinet and in coordination with the residents," read the statement. Just two weeks ago, an Arab gunman infiltrated Har Bracha and seriously wounded a husband and his pregnant wife.
Knesset member Uri Ariel (National Union Party) was outraged that the outpost was torn apart. He called on members of the National Religious Party (NRP) to demand an immediate halt to any future plans to uproot outposts. Ariel said that if the government does not respond, the NRP should consider leaving the government.
