Despite being on trial for murdering Israelis, Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti continues to receive a monthly salary of $2,500 as a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). Tel-Aviv attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has written to European Union's (EU) Foreign Minister Chris Patten demanding that he discontinue the EU funds, which are paying the salaries of Palestinian officials. In her letter Darshan Leitner notes that: "The EU recklessly continues to provide funding to the Palestinian Authority despite its having been repeatedly warned that the money is being diverted for terrorist attacks against civilians.
