A scheduled talk by former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at Concordia University in Montreal was cancelled last night, when hundreds of pro-PLO demonstrators arrived at the school's downtown campus and started a violent melee. According to the Canadian Press news service, anti-Israel protesters entered the building where the talk was to be held and tossed chairs at police before being driven back by batons and pepper spray. At least five were arrested before the facility was evacuated. Netanyahu had not yet arrived when the violence broke out. Following the cancelled speech, Netanyahu blasted the protesters, accusing them of supporting terrorism. Netanyahu said he would probably discuss the incident during a meeting with Canadian with Prime Minister Jean Chretien later today.
