The Supreme Court levied a fine of 30,000 shekels on the Chief Rabbinate for "violating a court order." The Rabbinate went against a Supreme Court ruling by withdrawing its certification of kashrut (ritually acceptable food) of a slaughterhouse that sold non-kosher meat to Jewish-owned stores. In its ongoing campaign to emphasize the Rabbinate's subjugation to civil law, the Supreme Court even suggested that the Attorney-General consider a disciplinary trial against certain Rabbinate figures.
