(Updated Thursday 9:30 AM) Border Police last night thwarted an effort by Arab terrorists to carry out a mega-terror attack within pre-1967 Israel. Two suspicious vehicles were spotted at around 2 AM traveling on a Shomron road in the direction of Kfar Glickson, just northeast of Pardes Chana.

Police ordered the drivers to halt as they approached a checkpoint, but they continued driving a short distance and then fled on foot, abandoning their vehicles. Inside one of the cars was a 600-kilogram bomb, fuel, a cellular phone attached to a battery and other bomb-making devices. Sappers arrived on the scene and successfully detonated the large bomb in a controlled explosion. A manhunt is underway for the terrorists who fled.

In related news, IDF troops arrested three wanted terrorists in Shechem’s Balata neighborhood last night. Security forces say that the Arabs were planning a suicide attack during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah holiday. During the arrests the men shot at the soldiers without inflicting injuries. Another wanted Arab was arrested in the Hevron district this morning.
