"Ridiculous," "shameful," and "naive" were some of the reactions of Yesha residents to the new Peace Now campaign designed to reduce the Jewish population in the biblical areas of Judea and Samaria. Peace Now has reportedly sent hundreds of letters to Jewish residents of Yesha, offering to help them receive compensation in exchange for leaving their homes. "More people are coming here than leaving," one woman of Yesha said, expressing astonishment at the Peace Now program. "We didn't come here for financial reasons; it's so much deeper than that..."



Yesha Council spokesman Yehoshua Mor-Yosef's response was, "The Israeli settlement enterprise is far stronger than either the Peace Now movement or Arafat and his gun-wielding thugs..."
