Former Defense Minister and Yamina Chairman MK Naftali Bennett called on the Coronavirus Cabinet, which will convene Sunday, to adopt his plan to prevent a third lockdown.
"In March, I put on the Prime Minister's table a detailed work plan on the COVID-19 issue. Due to irrelevant political considerations, the government decided to ignore it. So we reached the first and second lockdowns and a million unemployed.
"Today, I am laying out the plan again. Ten immediate actions that will prevent us from a third lockdown, save lives, and prevent the collapse of the economy. I call on the government again, put politics aside and act for the citizens of Israel and not for your own political considerations; we won't get another chance."
On Saturday night, Bennett released his ten-point plan to avoid a third lockdown.
The plan includes:
1. Mandatory testing for everyone entering Israel, with a negative test from 72 hours before arrival, and a second test upon arrival.
2. Regular mass testing throughout Israel with 100,000 tests a day.
3. Mass testing in schools.
4. Return to the 'traffic light' system imposing differential restrictions on towns based on their infection rate.
5. Upgrade epidemiological tests and integrate them into surveillance tools.
6. Avoid use of lockdowns.
7. Full reopening of education system.
8. Returning the activities in classes and informal enrichment for the children of Israel.
9. Reopening of sports groups and physical training.
10. Vocational training to help those who lost their jobs as a result of the lockdowns.
