Mortar shells continue to rain down on Jewish communities in Israel’s southern Mediterranean coastal area as Palestinian terrorists fired at least five of them last night. The shells landed harmlessly in various locations, including near an IDF position and near the N'vei Dekalim Industrial Park. On Tuesday night a mortar slammed into the Greenberg family home in N’vei Dekalim, causing serious damage and sending three children into shock.



Elsewhere in Gaza: A bomb exploded harmlessly near IDF troops at the Tel Katifa outpost last night, following numerous Arab attacks on that position over the past 24 hours. Exchanges of gunfire also took place between troops and Arab gunmen near Gadid last night. Soldiers also faced a barrage of gunfire and grenades at the Tarmit outpost in the Rafiach area.



Despite the tense situation on the ground, Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer was to meet today with the PA’s Abdel Razek Yichye. The meeting, originally scheduled for yesterday, was postponed by Ben-Eliezer after Tuesday night's mortar attack on a Gush Katif home. On the agenda: the continued implementation of the “Gaza and Bethlehem First” plan. In the meantime, 26 Knesset Members have signed a letter to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon expressing adamant opposition to the plan. The letter emphasizes that the past two years of attacks have made it painfully clear that security may be entrusted only to the IDF, not the PA.



Security forces last night arrested Hevron’s top Hamas leader, Abel Halek Natshe, suspected of carrying out numerous deadly terror attacks in Judea. These include the April 27 multi-murder in Adura of four Jews, including 5-year-old Danielle Shefi, as well as the June 8 attack in Karmei Tzur that took the lives of a young husband, his wife, and a soldier who tried to fight the murderers… Three firebombs were hurled at an Israeli vehicle in the Shomron on Wednesday night not far from N'vei Tzuf; no one was hurt but damage was caused... A total of eight wanted Palestinian terrorists were arrested throughout Judea and Samaria last night...



Golani Brigade soldiers uncovered a very large explosives factory in Jenin yesterday. The lab contained ready-made bombs, IDF uniforms, detonators, and bomb-making chemicals. Israeli forces destroyed the factory without incident.
