Dror Sofer, the father of Facebook Israel CEO Adi Sofer-Teeni, was run over by a vehicle during a demonstration against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Kiryat Ono on Saturday night.
Sofer, 82, was hit by the vehicle as he was crossing a road. Magen David Adom paramedics provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to Sheba Hospital at Tel Hashomer, where he was pronounced dead.
The woman who drove the vehicle that hit Sofer was detained at the scene. The police clarified that the incident is not a suspected hit-and-run.
MDA paramedics who arrived at the scene said, “We saw an 82-year-old man lying on the road and a private car with a shattered windshield nearby. The man was unconscious and suffered a severe head injury. We provided him with life-saving medical care and urgently evacuated him to the hospital. He was in serious but stable condition. We also examined the driver of the car, a young woman in her 20s, and she did not need treatment."
