Bahrain's Foreign Minister 'Abd al-Latif al-Ziani today said that he had spoken with the "Palestinian Foreign Minister" yesterday and clarified that Bahrain would not import goods from Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria.

Bahraini Economy, Trade and Tourism Minister Zaid Ben Rashid Alziani, who visited Israel, last week said that his country would allow import of goods from Judea and Samaria. "We will treat Israeli goods as Israeli goods, so we have no problem with the source of the goods," the Bahraini minister noted during the visit.

The Minister emphasized that Bahrain will not distinguish between products manufactured in Israel or in Judea and Samaria and in the Golan Heights.

"The minister's statement was not properly understood," the Bahrain news agency reported. "The Economy Ministry is committed to the unwavering position of the Bahrain government, which has adhered to UN resolutions."

According to EU guidelines, products manufactured in settlements should be clearly marked when exported to EU member states.
