(Updated Wednesday 10:45 AM) An Arab-launched mortar shell slammed into a house in the Gush Katif community of N’evi Dekalim, in Israel’s southern Mediterranean costal area last night, causing severe damage. Three children who were in the house at the time of the attack were treated for shock-like symptoms. No other injuries were reported.
In reaction to the attack, N’evi Dekalim resident Rachel Sapperstein, told Arutz Sheva’s Tamar Yonah today that she believes that G-d is truly watching over Gush Katif, because while over 1,500 mortars have landed since the start of the Oslo war, no-one has ever been killed. She added that last night’s incident is another one of the miracles that occur in Gush Katif on a daily basis.
Sapperstein also said that while there is a lot of political talk (i.e. the "Gaza and Bethlehem first" plan), “in terms of action, the Arabs, are going to continue to target us, and last night is just another example.”
Earlier this morning, N’evi Dekalim was on the receiving end of yet another mortar shell attack. This one however, caused no damage or injuries. Also this morning, soldiers in Gaza escaped injury when Arabs launched an anti-tank rocket at their position.
