In the wake of Pres. Trump outing Defense Secretary Mark Esper over the past week, Bloomberg Quicktake reported that America's top officer, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made poignant remarks that may have been aimed at the sitting president.

"We are unique among militaries. We do not take an oath to a king or a queen, a tyrant or a dictator. We do not take an oath to an individual," said Milley during an inauguration of an army museum.

According to the report, Milley spoke as he stood alongside the man who replaced Esper, Christopher Miller, and clearly reflected his loyalty to the Constitution rather than a political leader.

The Bloomberg report questioned whether by "installing three staunch loyalists to key Pentagon positions" Trump was planning to usurp power from president-elect Biden. Per the report, Milley recently told members of Congress that "In the event of a dispute over some aspect of the elections, by law, U.S. courts and the U.S. Congress are required to resolve any disputes, not the U.S. military."
