An attempted attack in the Jewish Gaza community of Kfar Darom - some 35 kilometers south of Ashkelon on Israel's Mediterranean coast - ended this morning in the deaths of two terrorists. IDF soldiers killed the first one as he approached the town and opened fire, and then pursued the second terrorist and killed him as well. The search is on for a possible third terrorist. The dead Arabs wore uniforms and flak jackets, and carried Kalachnikov rifles and grenades.

The attempted attack was the culmination of a long night of gunfire attacks at IDF outposts throughout Gaza. One soldier was lightly wounded.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Arafat's Fatah, took credit for this morning's attempted attack. HonestReporting.Com notes that the media widely reported this week that Hamas and Islamic Jihad vowed to continue its terrorism despite the "Gaza and Bethlehem First" agreement - but overlooked Fatah. In fact, Fatah also did not accept the no-terrorism clauses of the agreement, though the understandings are meaningless without them. Instead, Fatah promised that "the jihad will continue," that it would carry out "massive attacks" against Israeli soldiers and civilians, and threatened, "if there is a necessity in the next phase, there are no borders for the resistance."
