In light of rumors of plans that Hevron is next to be handed over, once again, to PA security control, the ancient city’s Jewish population has sent representatives to meet with government ministers in an attempt to forestall the plan. The Hevron Jewish Committee says that past experience shows that removing IDF presence from the Arab-populated parts of the city will almost certainly lead to further attempts to murder Jews. IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon visited the home of the Leibovitz family in Hevron yesterday, whose son Shammai Elazar was murdered by Arab terrorists three weeks ago. The family told Yaalon that the withdrawal from Hevron will lead to “the conscious forsaking of human life.”
