Actor Yehuda Barkan was hospitalized at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after contracting the coronavirus. He had been transferred to a coronavirus hotel when he was first diagnosed with the disease so as not to endanger his wife. On Yom Kippur he suffered from shortness of breath.

Barkan, 75, starred in films such as Charlie Ve'hetzi and Abba Ganuv and is also a producer and director who received the Israeli Film Academy award for his life's work. He became observant after the Gulf War.

Barkan's son Roi stated that he is being hospitalized in the intensive care unit in a stable andmoderate condition. He is conscious and communicating with his relatives. The Barkan family said: "We will ask the people of Israel to read a chapter of Psalms."
