Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Health Minister Nissim Dahan (Shas) came to an agreement today on a temporary solution for the hospital crisis. At least two government hospitals were reported in danger of closing because of dwindling drug supplies, due to lack of funds to pay for them. The proposed solution will see the Finance Ministry transfer 150 million shekels to the hospitals within three months. This sum will be an advance on monies to be released to state hospitals in the future in the context of a broader recovery plan. The government hospitals, for their part, have agreed to maintain the budgetary frameworks set for them for the financial year 2001-2002.
