Following the death of the ninth victim of the Hebrew University bombing of three weeks ago, AFSI (Americans for a Safe Israel) responded to the condolence message sent by U.S. President Bush to the families of the victims. The message of sympathy concluded with, “We must not allow a few killers to halt the march to peace.” AFSI's response:
“This is pure dishonesty. President Bush knows that the 10,000 celebrating in Gaza after learning about the bombing, are not supporting a 'few killers.' Arafat’s entire network, including Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, PFLP, DFLP, and more, have succeeded in instilling hatred into millions of Arabs residing in Israel, including Israeli Arabs. It is deceptive to talk about the 'march to peace.' ... Instead of talking about false 'peace' and statehood for the terrorists, President Bush should declare that there are no rewards for murderers [and should put] his attention to extraditing the murderers of the five Americans killed in the bombing of the Hebrew University as well as the murderers of the other 36 American victims of Arab terrorism." AFSI stated that the proposed Koby Mandell Act of 2001 - named after a 13-year-old American boy brutally murdered while hiking near his home in Tekoa - calls for the arrest and prosecution of PLO terrorists who have committed acts of international terrorism against Americans, and "should be acted upon immediately. In addition, the State Department Rewards program for information leading to the capture of terrorists should be advertised broadly, especially amongst the Arab population, so that the general public might respond."
