Twenty-five Bedouin IDF veterans successfully completed a special ten-month pre-academic course at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. The soldiers are now entitled to pursue a bachelor’s degree from the university’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The course was organized in cooperation with the IDF and the Ministries of Defense and Education.

IDF Southern Command Major-General Doron Almog spoke at a ceremony held in honor of those who completed the program. He said that the Bedouin troops were at the forefront of Israel’s war on PLO-terror. “Every night Bedouin trackers patrol Israel’s borders, particularly in Gaza, and prevent terrorists from entering Israel.” Almog also stressed that Israel is a pluralistic society that must do more to embrace the Bedouin community.
