Russian hackers have attempted to steal information on efforts to develop a coronavirus vaccine in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, British officials said Thursday.

The group of hackers allegedly goes by several names, including "APT29," "the Dukes" and "Cozy Bear."

The United Kingdom's National Cyber Security Center said in a statement that the group has been using malware to target institutions which are involved in the development of a vaccine for the COVID-19 virus in all three countries.

The US National Security Agency agrees with the assessment that Russian hackers are attempting to steal information on coronavirus vaccines.
