The Knesset is set to vote Wednesday on who its representatives in the Judicial Selection Committee, the Committee for Selecting Judges, the Committee for Selecting Religious Court Judges, and the committees for Selecting Muslim and Druze Qadis will be.

MK Ayelet Shaked (Yamina) submitted her candidacy for the Committee for Selecting Religious Court Judges, with the understanding that at least the right-wing MKs will prefer her over the radical-left MK Merav Michaeli (Labor) as the opposition's representative to the Committee.

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) has instructed members of his party to support Shaked's candidacy over Michaeli's.

However, United Torah Judaism leaders MK Moshe Gafni and Housing Minister Yakov LItzman are weighing whether Michaeli, who is known to be anti-religious, should receive their party's support instead.

On Monday, an Arutz Sheva report noted that the Likud party intends to allow its members to vote with their conscience with regards to the opposition's representative, in order to allow Michaeli a chance at the role.
