In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Rabbi Scott Berman, one of 38 new immigrants from the US to arrive in Israel with the help of Nefesh B'Nefesh, the Ministry for Immigration and Absorption, the Jewish Agency, KKL and JNF-USA this Tuesday, July 7, said he and his wife had been "making Aliyah for the last 40 years."

"We were always planning on coming to Israel, but leaving it on the back burner."

"With our four children settled in Israel over the years, we finally decided to come home," he said.

Rabbi Berman said he and his wife arrived in the country within a year of each other. "My wife received a job offer from [a company] in Tel-Aviv and accepted the proposal, and as I was still employed as a [school] principal in Michigan, we agreed that she'd come first and I'd follow in a year's time…"

Rabbi Berman said that the "strength of the modern Orthodox movement in the Diaspora is also its weakness in that moving to Israel is seen as an ideal, but many quality members of the community end up leaving in the process."

He said he was very happy to have finally achieved his dream and excited to start out in his new life in Modi'in.
