
Israeli Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz (Blue and White) went into quarantine Wednesday morning, after it was discovered that he came into contact with a person infected with the coronavirus.
Gantz came into contact with the person carrying the coronavirus Sunday evening. Later, it was discovered that the person in question was infected with the coronavirus.
The Defense Minister will remain in isolation until he is tested for the virus and receives a clean bill of health.
The minister’s office released a statement Wednesday, saying Gantz “feels well” and that he will continue to function as defense minister while in isolation.
“Due to the likely exposure to a person infected with the coronavirus Sunday evening, and out of a desire and responsibility to remove any risk of infection, and based on consultations with health officials, Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz has decided to go into quarantine until a coronavirus test is conducted and epidemiologic checks carried out.”
“Gantz feels well, and will continue to handle ministry affairs and his other public responsibilities while in isolation.”
