Israeli actor Lior Halfon was admitted to the coronavirus ward at Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera on Monday, following a deterioration in his medical condition.

Halfon contracted the virus last week and initially suffered only from fever and cough, but in recent days it was discovered that he is also suffering from pneumonia.

His sister told the Ynet news website, "He has a high fever that is not coming down and a severe cough. He was admitted to the coronavirus ward and it turned out he has pneumonia as a result of complications from coronavirus. He is conscious but it is very difficult for him to speak because of the cough.”

Earlier on Monday, the Health Ministry announced that 691 new coronavirus cases had been diagnosed since midnight.

The number of active coronavirus cases has risen to 12,359 of whom 88 are in serious condition, and 35 are on ventilators.

Three patients died Monday, raising the death toll from the coronavirus to 334.

The government earlier ordered the closure of event halls, clubs, bars, and gyms.

Beaches and parks will not be closed at this time, despite proposals by the Health Ministry and National Security Council in favor of closures. In addition, only 19 people will be allowed to pray together at synagogues.
