A close associate of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested by the FBI Thursday and indicted on a number of sex abuse-related charges.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the 58-year-old British socialite and daughter of late media mogul Robert Maxwell, was arrested by agents of the FBI Thursday in New Hampshire.

Maxwell is slated to be brought before a federal judge in New York later today.

NBC reported that Maxwell has been indicted by a federal court in Manhattan on six charges.

According to the indictment, Maxwell is accused of working with Epstein for the sex trafficking of teenage girls, grooming girls as young as 14 since at least 1994.

The indictment includes two counts of perjury, one count of conspiracy to entice minors to travel for the purposes of engaging in illegal sex acts, one county of enticing minors to travel for the purposes of engaging in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors for the purpose of illegal sex acts, and transporting minors with intent to engage in illegal sexual activity.

In December, it was reported that Maxwell was under investigation by the FBI over her connections with Epstein, who died in his jail cell in Manhattan last August in what authorities ruled was a suicide, months after he was arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking teenage girls.

Maxwell reportedly went into hiding following Epstein's death, with one report claiming she had fled to Israel.
