Following the rise in coronavirus diagnoses and in line with expert recommendations, the Coronavirus Cabinet decided to conduct second semester exams at all universities and colleges online to reduce risk of infection spread.

In exceptional cases where exams cannot be conducted online, an "Exception Mechanism" for approving frontal exams with Health Ministry and Higher Education Council approval will be coordinated.

Higher Education Minister Ze'ev Elkin said after approving the decision, "I'm sure that, like the colleges that informed me that they're prepared for the challenging possibility of conducting remote exams, the universities will also act accordingly, and like the experience in the rest of the Western world in the coronavirus crisis, they will also be prepared for the dynamic situation we're in.

"For our part, we'll do as much as we can to help ensure the students' academic level is not harmed," the Higher Education Minister said.
