(Updated Monday 9:15 AM) Israel’s national labor union known as the Histadrut will be staging a three-hour strike today. The Histadrut is trying to send a message to the government that if there is no change in the cost-of living allowance for salaried employees within two weeks, the union will carry out a full-fledged strike. Today’s strike will be held from 10AM-1PM.
Many sectors will be affected including government offices, the Bezeq Telephone Company, the post office, and the Mekorot Water Company. In addition, delays are expected for those passengers flying in and out of Ben-Gurion International Airport. Bus service will continue as scheduled throughout the country. Emergency services such as Magen David Adom and hospitals will operate on Sabbath schedules while outpatient clinics will shut down.
